With over 100 U.S. and international theatre productions spanning four decades, OBIE Award-winning actor-writer EDWIN LEE GIBSON continues to leave an indelible mark on the entertainment industry with an array of TV and film projects.

Recently honored for Best Lead Performance by the LA Drama Critics Circle for his role as Stepin' Fetchit in Will Power's play Fetch Clay, Make Man in 2023 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles, Gibson's standout portrayals of 'Ebra' in the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series The Bear, and Lionel ‘Happy’ Halloway in the FX series Fargo, solidified his status as a powerhouse performer. Gibson's talent was further recognized with a 2024 SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series for his role in The Bear. Recently, Gibson wrapped filming on Nate Edwards' highly anticipated film She Taught Love, penned by Darrell Britt-Gibson.

Gibson's talent has garnered praise from the New York Times and The Village Voice, particularly for his OBIE Award-winning performance as "Oedipus" in Will Power's The Seven at New York Theatre Workshop. His range as an actor is further exemplified by his solo performance in Turn Me Loose as famed comedian and activist Dick Gregory at Arena Stage in 2018. He spent two years touring the late theatre auteur Peter Brook’s Battlefield produced by Theatre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, France.

His film credits include Marshall, Mom and Dad, Sweet Tooth, Blood First, and The Visitor starring David Oyelowo directed by Paul Hunter. Gibson's additional TV appearances include UnPrisoned (FX) Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (HBO), Fargo (FX), Shameless (Showtime), Law and Order: SVU (NBC), Proven Innocent (Fox) and Chicago P.D. (NBC).

A member of the 2022-2023 cohort of Sony's Diverse Writers Program, Gibson's dedication to the arts extends beyond acting. He holds an MFA in Writing for the Screen from Point Park University and has demonstrated his commitment to nurturing emerging talent by teaching creative writing at NYC's Rikers Island Prison.
